George Crawford finalist for the Rider Levett Bucknall Outstanding Leadership Award.
George Crawford has been an instrumental member of the Precinct leadership team since 2010. Initially appointed as Chief Financial Officer, George held the role of Chief Operating Officer for 5 years before taking on his current role as Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
He plays a leading role in setting Precinct’s strategy as well as leading developments and major projects and has driven the recent expansion of the business to include residential and capital partnerships.
George also serves as the Chair of Keystone Trust, a role he has held since joining the Board in 2021. By fostering pathways into the property industry for underrepresented groups, he is helping to create a more inclusive and diverse future for the sector. His dedication to both the development of cities and the growth of young talent underscores his broader commitment to building a better future, both in the property industry and beyond.
His ability to bridge leadership responsibilities with his commitment to social impact makes him a key figure in driving both industry excellence and community-focused initiatives.
He also is a member of the City Centre Advisory Panel as a representative for the property sector (Property Council of NZ) where he assists and advises on city centre issues and achieving the vision and strategic outcomes of the City Centre Masterplan and Auckland Plan.
George has played a pivotal role in establishing Precinct’s capital partnership platform and leading its entry into the living sector, in particular residential build-to-sell apartments and student accommodation.
George’s involvement in the Joint Venture with the tangata whenua of central Tāmaki Makaurau - Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, to invest in the regeneration of the Te Tōangaroa precinct in Auckland highlights his commitment to creating meaningful partnerships that go beyond business objectives.
George is passionate about the opportunities within this Joint Venture as well as future opportunities. George has been a strong advocate for the social benefits embedded in the Joint Venture. These include a scholarship funded by the partnership. Additionally, George has championed social procurement outcomes for Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei.
George’s passion for leveraging these opportunities for both improved design and community impact, highlights his belief in sustainable growth that benefits everyone involved. This partnership not only sets a new standard for collaborative urban regeneration but also reflects George’s dedication to building a more inclusive future through property development.
George has played a critical role in leading some of Auckland’s most transformative projects, including Commercial Bay and the redevelopment of One Queen Street.
